Charities
There are various charities out there, supporting the end to illegal fishing and to combating the drops in fish levels throughout the worlds oceans.
![]() The PEW charitable TrustThis charity trust has started its own campaign to raise awareness of IUU fishing. One issue is that there is a blacklist of ships that engage in IUU fishing but this list in not freely shared with every vessel. With IUU being a very costly issue to tackle, many governments refuse to give their full support due to costs. Their goals include the adoption of regional fisheries management organizations, basically the tools required to combat IUU fishing as well as the creation of an information sharing mechanism to exchange data from pot to port as well as between vessels in order to tract illegal operators. http://www.pewenvironment.org/campaigns/combating-illegal-unreported-and-unregulated-fishing/id/8589941944/overview/ g |
