Earth Report - Stolen Fish

This 30 minute documentary focuses on the illegal fishing of third world countries and the lengths fishermen will go to illegally fish in these waters. This documentary gives a good insight into what measures governments are going in order to patrol illegal fishing, but also shows the techniques that fishermen use to evade capture such as night time fishing and hiding their call signs to appear invisible on the radio. This documentary also gets an insight into the back-up crews of these illegal fishing boats which can often be on these boats of years at a time, never touching land and not know how much they are going to get paid.

Up Close and Dangerous: Dynamite Fishing

This short video shows the effects of dynamite fishing, and the effect it has on divers. When dynamite is set off in the water it creates a shock waves which can knock divers unconscious. There's not much underwater footage of dynamite being set off so this gives a good insight.

This short clip is a Channel 4 news story on the "Pirate Fish on Your Plate" investigation that the Environmental Justice Foundation did. This investigation looks into the fish market and to the sources of our fish that we buy and weather it is from a legitimate source or from the illegal side of the fishing industry.
